Happy Happy Birthday to Asher!!!

It came and past. The bittersweet day known as Asher's 1st Birthday...also known as September 5th. My how I love this boy! I was packing up all his 12 month size clothes, and ran across the outfits from his first three months. Initially, my heart broke. Asher will never be able to wrap his entire fist around my one finger again. On the other hand I love how much he has grown and my heart nearly burst each time he learned to laugh, roll over, wave goodbye, say "dada" and crawl. Each of his accomplishments has been a triumph for all of us, and I wouldn't trade a single moment.

Asher's stats this go around are: Weight 24 1/2 pounds 71 percentile

Head Circ 18.7 inches 81 percentile

Height 32 inches 95 percentile

What does this mean in non-percentile terms? Asher is heavy, healthy and happy. At 1 year old he is nearly 3 feet tall which is half my height and can reach anything and everything he wants.

Asher has escaped from Bumbo prison so he promptly received a high chair for his birthday.

Last week he started eating table food. He still throws up if his cereal puff finds it's way to the back of his mouth before being sufficiently dissolved, but the kid has gag reflexes like a penguin. Between that and assurance from his doctor, I keep giving him table food. His favorite foods in the whole world are milk, yogurt, milk, banana cookies and milk. Before starting table food he was finishing off an entire gallon every two days.

He likes to work and play hard always anticipating the flash.

The camera loves him. Or maybe the mom behind the camera. Asher is not going to know what to do with himself when he goes to preschool and there is no one constantly following him around snapping pictures. What can I say? He was born to be a star!

He is sleeping through the night as long as no one breaths too loud. Any tiny moment or noise will wake the sleeping monster!

Pretty soon this will be for real.

He likes drinking anything in mommy's cup! Namely strawberry shakes, apple juice and orange juice. He does have a sippy cup, but he is nice enough to share some backwash once in a while.

My messy lil' man! Bath times are still the favorite portion of the day! The only problem is now he throws a leg over the side of the tub and tries to sneak in with his clothes on.

The little guy loves water! He is not walking just yet, but is so close! I am excited for him to learn because I am sure it will be great exercise!

This video cracks me up every time! I was licking my lips and he was blue in the face. So funny!

Asher is also in 18-24 month clothes depending on the brand. (I pray that someday we will live in a consistent baby clothing size world.) He loves his daddy and looks up to Traevan so much already. It's amazing! He loves to babble, play with toys, dance and laugh. He is the sweetest thing since pie. I actually ran across the meaning of his name. Asher means "happy" which I find very fitting. We all love him so much and are excited to see what an incredible little boy he becomes!
