Maybe my next update will have explained my fears, but maybe not.
Englishist?
We are turning over a new leaf in our book and creating a new chapter. Here is a little documentation of what we are all up to both past and present.
Josh just finished up his summer employment at Eco First Pest Control. Let's just say it was an experience, both good and bad. He has been working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. Although he is now on the job hunt again, I am grateful to have my husband back, and he is grateful to reclaim his soul from Eco First. Josh starts a full schedule of school tomorrow which we are both ecstatic about! He has two semesters to go including this one before he finishes his Bachelors in Behavioral Science. SO EXCITED! He loves school and all of his classes so I am sure these last two semesters are going to fly by!
Traevan is constantly questioning us "why?" and also teaching us a lot of interesting facts about colors, letters and numbers. With Josh's crazy work schedule I have gotten to pick Traevan up by myself a few times this summer, and every time I go to his house he gets really excited to show me his new homework. He has preschool learning books that his mom helps him with every day, and he LOVES it! He is going to eat school up! Unfortunately, he still has two more years before Kindergarten but at least he will have a head start and is excited!
Asher is almost one. I think I am in denial. I must have magic appendages because he walks all over the place as long as he is holding on to one finger. He gets incredibly frustrated and instantly cries if he hears a door open or close, if you won't put him in the shower with you, you won't let him pound on the computer or if you take away the slobbery keys. He is still struggling a little with baby food. As long as it isn't too thick it's ok. He loves yogurt, blueberries, pears, bananas, squash, peas, oatmeal and zucchini. He loves being chased and scared. Nothing gets him laughing like a game of hide and seek in Wal Mart...people probably think Josh and I are crazy. He loves his aunts, uncles and grandparents, but he is at the separation-anxiety stage and cries whenever I leave. A spoon will literally entertain him for hours! He loves to flick his wrist repeatedly while holding whatever his heart desires such as spoon, toothbrush, sock, keys, pen, and necklace. His birthday post will be coming soon!
Now to explain the title of this post. I am still working full time but have decided to take two night classes at UVU to get a little closer to finishing my degree in English. One of my textbooks puts it plainly. "History majors become historians; psychology majors become psychologists; biology majors become biologists. What do English majors become? Englishists? Englishologists? Waiters?" As exciting as waitressing would be, I have recently changed my emphasis from Education to Writing Studies. I want to eventually be an English professor someday (don't judge my blog-it is not English perfect by any means), but because I do technical writing for my company I thought it would be more relevant-and faster- to finish my degree in Writing Studies. I have always loved school, but basically- I am terrified. The last semester I finished up when I was 20 weeks pregnant. Now that Asher is older and we're all getting more sleep, I thought it might be a good idea to start back up working on my degree, but I am afraid. Afraid that I will love it too much, or not at all. Afraid I will realize my passion for English, literature and writing has faded, or that inexplicable craving for words and their formations will return double fold.
